Work with Us
Before you commit to working with Glen Shuraig Consulting, we thought you might like to know a little more about the process of working with us. Hopefully you will find it helpful to see a brief note of what this process will involve.
Before We Begin
Before we begin working together, we will ideally have an introductory meeting so you can tell us a bit about what you’re looking for. We can then tell you who in the team has the most relevant experience and let you know a bit more about their professional background. Our team will then be in a position to go away and consider how we can best help you out and come back to you with a proposal. Just to say that the proposal can, of course, be adapted if you think there is something in it that doesn’t quite suit your needs. You are the client and you must make sure that the service is what you are looking for, before you sign on the dotted line.
We do keep an eye on public procurement opportunities and bid where we spot something that appears to fit our skills and expertise. If we come to work with you through an open procurement process, we will have done our best to understand your needs from your tender documentation, but of course we will still want to spend time with you at project initiation to ensure we have a deeper understanding of what’s needed by you as the client.
A Joint Endeavour
As we are sure you will know, just throwing a consultant at problems and waiting for the answer to magically appear will not work. This has to be a joint process. We need to get alongside you and your team to establish how we can all work together to get the results you need. Even when we are conducting an independent review, we’ll still need information from you or your team to ensure that we have the full picture and can provide you with the best possible outcomes.
A Fresh Perspective
When you’re juggling a million different things, it can be difficult to see the wood for the trees. That’s where the team at Glen Shuraig comes in. With fresh but very experienced eyes, we can look at your situation objectively and offer helpful, relevant advice that will get things back on track.
We can carry out a fully independent review for an external audience if that is what is required. Or it may be the you need our team to work with you more closely. Either way, you rest assured that you will be given an honest assessment and recommendations to help you succeed. At Glen Shuraig, we are just as keen to help you recognise and build on your achievements as we are to help you tackle your problems.
Expert Associates
Glen Shuraig is a team and you can be assured of project continuity, even if one of the team had to drop out for any reason. And our team of associate consultants each bring their own strengths and knowledge to the table, if it turns out that you need particular specialist expertise.
Integrity
Once we have started the process of working together, if our team is not convinced that what you’re asking for is going to achieve your desired results or deliver value, we will tell you. We promise to be gentle with the news, but we will tell you and most likely will suggest alternatives the would work better for you. Of course, you’re the client and you are in control, but we don’t want you to waste your time or money.
What our clients say about working with us
“Eleanor has a refreshingly straightforward approach and struck a very good balance between keeping the discussion on track to meet our objectives, while being flexible enough to respond to the way the session developed. She listened well, challenged us where necessary and really helped the team get where we needed to, with clear next steps.” Chief Executive, Carnegie UK
“I found the explanation made about the difference between an ‘issue’ and a ‘risk’ really helpful. Risk is not a topic that particularly enthuses me – particularly on a Monday morning – but I found the session interesting, informative and engaging, particularly the use of ‘real life’ examples which made risk feel much more tangible.” Policy and Development Officer, Carnegie UK
“Throughout the project, we found your experience, expertise and handling skills invaluable in driving forward the work and providing us with useful insight and challenge as matters progressed. Your stakeholder and relationship management skills were also extremely helpful in discussing and dealing with sensitive matters with challenging stakeholders.” Unit Head, Scottish Government
“Two things stand out as keys to the credibility of Glen Shuraig’s very helpful report: firstly their skill and determination to understand and analyse our staffing challenges in sufficient depth to make specific, justified and costed recommendations. Secondly, their thoroughness in making sure they took time to communicate meaningfully with everyone involved, including our Board, management team, staff, trade unions and Government.” Bill Barron, Chief Executive, Crofting Commission
“Eleanor and Barbara very quickly built a meaningful rapport with the internal working group and wider stakeholders across the organisation creating an environment where their work was delivered with the working group and not ‘to’ the group. They shared insights and knowledge with the members of the working group and rapidly built trust with the group and as a result their ideas and suggestions had a huge amount of buy in from the group and wider organisation.” Audit Director, Audit Scotland
